Who We Are
Welcome to the Gulf Coast Diabetes Center. Our goal is to improve the lives of people who have diabetes. We use a comprehensive approach that includes focus on glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol. Treatment plans are individualized and may include medical nutritional therapy, regular exercise, and medications. Our team consists of an endocrinologist, nurse practitioners, dieticians, certified diabetes educators and you. More than any other chronic medical condition, diabetes is one which requires self-management. Since every person with diabetes is unique, we aim to design a plan of care based on their particular needs and circumstances. We look forward to working with you.
Our multidisciplinary team approach teaches patients to better self-manage their diabetes. Our team of nurse providers, certified diabetes educators, and physicians specialized in diabetes care, evaluate all patients. In addition to blood glucose management, the center monitors and treats high blood pressure and abnormal cholesterol and lipid levels. The Gulf Coast Diabetes Center screens patients as recommended by the American Diabetes Association for diabetes-related complications and provides appropriate treatment.
New GCDC Patients
During your first visit, it’s important that we have as much information about your diabetes management as possible. Therefore, make sure you bring all your existing medical documentation, previous lab work and any paperwork from your referring physician that you may have. We also know the importance of getting all your diabetes testing and procedures done as quickly and easily as possible. That’s why we offer a full-service clinic with an in-house lab to ensure that our patients receive the information and results they need. During your first appointment, a nurse and doctor who are diabetes specialists will assess your condition. We will offer education materials on the impact of diabetes in your life. Also included are comprehensive exams of your eyes and feet. New patients should have a referral from their primary care physician, but it’s not required. Make sure you bring your insurance card (private, Medicare, or Medicaid), valid ID and any co-payment to all appointments.
